Mates are mates

Mates are mates

A Poem by Leonard Birch
"

This is an a poem that has an Aussie feel. The show stopped , but the fun only just started.

"

Mates are mates
(Until)

‘E sits himself down,
to watch a show.
Popcorn and mars bars,
‘e’s an Aussie you know.
The fella beside,
is smooching his gal.
The bloke behind says,
“Are yah comfortable pal”?

The show begins,
but we can’t hear a thing.
There’s a fella in front,
who’s decided to sing.
“Yah silly ole fool,
Can yah wait until later.
I missed the best part,
when the gator, ater”.

The power went out,
just after that.
We waited like fools,
for an hour, in fact.
Some tool said,
“What a wonderful show”.
The buggers been sleepin’,
in the second row.

Then the fun started,
they turned on the lights.
The show went for minutes,
not till midnight.
We asked for our money,
but they said we was dreamin’.
I’ll tell yah right now,
‘is eyelids were steamin’.

‘E called for the cops,
but they said they were busy.
The s**t hit the fan,
I began to feel dizzy.
They eventually came,
but not over money.
‘E said something stupid,
like, “I’ll stick yah head in the dunny”.

Me mates a mate,
in a land from Down Under.
When the bugger gets jail,
I begin to wonder.
Bail him out?
S**t, not in your life.
I gunna spend the evening,
with ‘is darling wife.

That's what mates are for.

I enjoyed this! Different audience than most of your writing on here so far...but it had great rhythm, an excellent accent and a bit of fun! :)

Ha! Very entertaining - though not for kids, this one! A fun read - I read it aloud and kept laughing as I did so. :)
