Throwing Caution To The Wind

Throwing Caution To The Wind

A Poem by Lesley Irma

Throwing caution to the wind
her journey for truth
would begin

She had one burning truth she needed to know
the question was asked to the wind itself
which gave a billowing reply
“Nobody knows, not even I!”

Still curious
she sought an answer from the moon
night after night
the moon shone bright
yet remained silent to the matter at hand

Turning her attention to day
she spoke with the sun and clouds
they smiled upon her
but sadly extended no answer

The earth, grass, and trees
as well, offered no relief
she sulked away slowly
head hanging low
who had the answer
she didn’t know

She stumbled upon the babbling brook
who returned the sweetest
merciful look

Darling girl search within
breathe deep
begin again

Throwing caution to the wind
she sat back
let her journey end

A captivating and enchanting poem that held my attention thru-out. Clever and intelligent, couched in a softly beautiful setting.
