Rented Sky

Rented Sky

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

a sad story,maybe

"
Star to let
to a cat-lover
and friend of

less perfect dahlias,
to putter-outers of
unwashed milk bottles,

to curtain shifters
and spectacle sinkers,
to all those gods

in Victoria`s long terraces
all waiting for
the flat upstairs.

This poem says so much in so few words...this is what poetry is all about. A lot of us could learn from you. This was a great read.

I am sure that this would hold it's own in any poetry competition. The title first caught my attention and then you played a blinder till the end.... Very good indeed in my book.... N

This does have a sadness in it. A group of people just waiting for someone to die so they can have the flat themselves. Nicely done, impressive poem.

I had the impression of a vagrant on the streets watching all the nuances of life around him when I read this. Another beautifully crafted work Leslie!

It is funny how you can give a person the moon and he will want the stars. The upper flat for a better view or so they will feel safe opening their curtains. Kathie

Best wishes to you too Leslie, have a great day. Kathie
i like that "flat upstairs"

we live as who we are...those unwashed milk bottles...but we are less than perfect for sure...just shifting the curtains to let or not let the light in on our lives...lives of just waiting for what comes next.
