Still

Still

A Poem by Ry

First love.

Black, tattered jacket smothered in night time air.

A nameless cologne,

Persistence I itch for.

So everywhere, I look for you.

State fair hot dog stand.

Public bus.

Shopping mall.

Nothing like me,

But everything.

Still.

Second love.

Comfort in a Beatles hoodie I hope you have.

Ice blue, cold whiskey warmth.

Heard our song in the market where you worked.

My heart dances for you.

I remember you in quiet times.

Slow dance.

Rain-soaked.

Never third chance.

Greatest.

Still.

Third love.

Wildfire tastes of home.

Rough blanket.

Silent strumming swaying fever.

Never ending asphalt dreams.

You find me in darkness. In light. In high.

Beat drop bass drum.

You left me stranded.
Too weak to stand.

Still.

Last love.

Best friend.

Heartbreak smile

In faded boots and wounded eyes.

You find me where I lay drowned

And guide the pieces home to dry.
