Confusion

Confusion

A Poem by Askew

Why do I crave affection
But cower from love?
How can I tell I'm missing something
When I can't tell what I want?

I desire what I can't have
And despise what I can.
Life is unfulfilling
And God can't save me.

Do I want you
Or am I just shallow?
Could you love me
Or are you just kind?

Are you what I want
Or are you a gorgeous face and loving words?
Am I so starved for affection
That I can't tell?

What's the difference?
I've known one
But never the other.
Or have I?

I enjoyed this poem dear Lexi. The words danced to perfect ending.
"What's the difference?
I've known one
But never the other.
Or have I?"
I do like the question above. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

This is a very thought-provoking and emotional piece here. It's like taking a pen, dipping it into the heart and writing it out onto the page which the mind is able to express these thoughts. Asking a lot of questions, leaving answers to fate, and yet here I hope that answers do come for those questions asked. The title of the poem suites it well, as the content gives explanation for the confusion inside. Reality is this, it boils down to the choices we make as individuals, how things go. Well done on another really good piece, look forward to reading more of your work.

so relatable Lexi ...the conflict and confusion ... doubt and hopes ... brings up a tearing most go through at one time or another ... we need one another instinctually ... but to trust can be so terrifying ... and in leaping we will most likely be hurt .. few are so fortunate to have that work out the first time ;) i am older now ... and even i can say .. have gotten a little wiser ... those difficult struggles do smooth the way for the growth of patience, trust (in a higher power) and the calm assurance of true Faith ... i love the raw vulnerability in all your writing ... this one is no exception ... you put it out here, Lexi ... you take a leap ;))
