Hopeless Holidays

What happens when you become an adult and your family casts you out.

Christmas songs fill the air as us
children wearing matching footy pajamas
wiggling in excitement for what is to come.
Stockings are hung and
Cookies laid out.
A final story was told and the
Christmas lights turned on.
We snuggled in between the pellet heater
and the towering tree.

Holidays are around the corner
but this time
I have no family.
