Breaking Boxes

Breaking Boxes

A Poem by BeckyBelle
"

The world puts people in boxes to make them easier to understand, but we are all so much more than the boxes people put us in.

"
Happy Girl,
Her name as given

The smile tells all
See her eyes
The story changes

Who can plumb their depths
Abyss of emotion
Chasm of pain

Sad Girl
Her real name

Pain worn on her skin
Fragile figure
Broken inside

Look again in the depths
Eyes speak words
Twice heard wrong

Happy Girl, Sad Girl
Neither her name

One box to another
Both lies tell
Look again

She is more than her boxes
No box can contain
The ocean of her soul

For these eyes sparkle
The smile
Not a lie

The pain and the joy
Mingle inside
Each truth

She has light
She has dark
Swallowed by neither

No box may jail her
Nor hold her down
See now she rises

She's broken her box
Wings unfurl
Spirit soars

Embracing her Happy
Breathing in Sad
She is both

She is girl
She is mystery
Her spirit
Infinite

Very good write. Beauty is only skin deep. See us for who we are and not what we are.
