Ode To Xanax

Ode To Xanax

A Poem by Lipstick_Lesbian
"

Oh, Xanax, what would I do without you?

"
While in this pillbox called a plane
My faith in God began to wane
And as the plane shook violently
I feared for my life silently.

When mantras failed to comfort me
And I thought death would come for me
I found one last way to relax:
I reached for my trusty Xanax.

I take a zero point five dose
That might make an ant comatose
But my four foot eleven frame
Can manage it; I feel no shame.

In fact I'm filled with adoration
For this lovely medication
Because it does what few things can:
Convinces me that I'm a fan

Of floating on and through the clouds
That wrap the plane in big white shrouds
That toss and turn me like a cradle
Never smooth and never stable.

Now I sit back down again
Warm, woozy and very zen
And as I lay me down to sleep
I give this pill my fears to keep.

I liked the reference to the old prayer at the end of this poem. Quite an intoxicating read.

I've been here and done the exact same thing~
Lithium, not Xanax.
But the escape is still the same.
Touching piece, I enjoyed the rhymes, the way the stanzas flowed, seperate but together as a whole.

This is sheer gospel! I need to get a shirt made, and written on it will be:
I USED TO CARE ABOUT LIFE: NOW I TAKE A PILL AND LAUGH :)

such chemical dosed poetry, in line with the air in drugged out welcoming, I love the tie in of flying compared to near death experiences, yet comforted as the spirit of the write becoming hazy in milligram and ounces of rhythm, ...good stuff

Holy crap, Xanax works for flying!? Never thought about that. Prob works much better than cups of whiskey, and no hang over lol

I can def relate to this poem. I do NOT like flying (although I'm not afraid of heights, go figure). I was on a flight to SF, and from L.A. that's only like 40 min, and I was freaking out at the lady next to me talking on her cell after the pilot told everyone to turn off their electronic devices! lol

Anyhow, what a nice tongue-and-cheek piece, and I esp like the last part; I can almost feel myself dozing off into Xanax paradise...

(: ah yes the blue football (: (: i read the previous review.. and i got all of you topped but my response has nothing to do with any of that.. i love poetry when it refers to chemical, spiritual, emotional (usually angry or frustrated emotions) so i was quite pleasantly surprised to read a love song (for lack of a better way to put it) for xanax.. what i can tell you however is this; dont love it too much.. there is nothing worse than grand-Mal seizuires and a near death experience in benzo detox.. (: Loved this poem! -s

Awesome. I've read about a lot of drugs but never this one. I have taken it though, along with ativan, risperdal, clorezapam, clonazepam and diazepam. Anxiety's a b***h isn't it?
