The Leaf-Boat

The Leaf-Boat

A Poem by Liriel Luna

I let my love for you go like a leaf-boat down a stream;
You took my heart with you as you sailed away. I do not know
If you will ever return to me, if I will ever see my love come back
Like white sails on the horizon of the world-ocean where you've gone.
I carry you in my very soul and I don't think I could fully be rid of
You if I tried, but I accept that, even if you are my twin-flame,

Now was not our time. Perhaps our time will not arrive in this life.
If that is our fate, so be it. Still, there will always be
That hole in my soul that you left and no one will be able to
Fill it like you. It's impossible to feel such love as I had for you and
Be left unchanged, unburned, unmarked. Oh, you left your mark
Certainly enough. And I will carry that scar

Like a badge forever and I will always remember
The day you brought me the sun and the day you took it back.
