The Absence of Sun

The Absence of Sun

A Poem by Little Birdie

A homage to the hours spent by the turquoise sea.

they left at 9 AM today
an early flight

I ran for hours afterwards
the skin of my legs
burned from the day before
a homage to the hours
spent by the turquoise sea

all the hatred I've had
dunked headfirst and
drowned as I sat upon
its ugly head until I
felt lost without it

with them they took
the days of my summer
a touch of my worries
the bitterness

the afternoon
was cloudy
and my heart
as clear
as the coastline
before me

Made me read this twice to fully get what was going on. I like that! Awesome here just purely awesome

Hello! Because of the title I thought I would read something about the long gray days that usually linger over Rijeka. Nice surprise. The poem feels like some of my summers spent in Cres and Losinj, so what else can I tell you but that I like it.
