I have a hard time letting go, except it

Slowly we realize time has carried on without us
While we stood frozen in time
Too late we realized loving you was a crime
Your apologies we decline
Blinded by selfishness and fear
You let us imagine rewinding time while we tear
All we stood for started to disappear
Over his coffin we cried
To your flesh and your blood you lied
Behind empty apologies you hide
Too little you tried
With him your promise died
Too many wrongs started to collide
Forgiveness becomes easy to be denied
