White Paper. Broken Heart.

White Paper. Broken Heart.

A Poem by LittleGlassWings

If I was alive, this would have killed me

Being broken down so many times

And every time you kill with liquid fire

Ripping violently into my smiling heart

You look like you lost yourself

But at least you had me…

I know I can’t make you stay

That’s been clear for awhile

And I kept wanting to leave.

Of course you left me first

Of course I cried too

Even if it makes you worry.

I still know what sunshine felt like

Like soft kisses in summer

And a love letter shoved in my pocket

It tasted like ice, but burned like fire…

When it rained you walked me home

Every day you left.

Every day you got a little further.

You made me breakfast in the middle of the day

You made me smile in the middle of a week

You remember my smile?

I hope I do when it’s all over.

When you make your way into that suit…

When you smile and wave…

When you forget me…

When you sign your name…

White paper. Broken heart.
