Mermaid Tears.

Mermaid Tears.

A Poem by Brianna Alexandria Wolf
"

Sometimes you ask for too much.

"
The water laid too deep,
so she had to steal their gills.
She ripped them off their tiny heads,
and stitched them to her ears.

The water laid too deep,
so she had to steal their fins.
She chopped them off, one by one,
and sewed them to her shins.

The water laid too deep,
so she had to steal their scales.
She peeled them back like apple skin
And glued them on her nails.

The water laid too deep,
so she had to steal their hearts,
but when she tried to take those too
they killed her on the spot.
