24/7

24/7

A Poem by Karina Longo
"

When someone wants to win and be better than everyone else.... 24/7. It's a diseese and I thought I'd talk about this delicate disorder of wanting to reach perfection by all means. 24/7.

"

Everybody has their price, even if

it's not money what can buy it.

Screaming to the ear of agony -

Traces of masochism -  it’s an echo.

Dream killers should take

thousands of painkillers -

it’s so suitable.

My irony doesn’t last a second,

at the end of the day

everybody loves a cliché.

You put your pets into beauty contests

They don’t mind if they might

win or lose.

Abuse yourself instead of trying

to live the perfectionist dream through

such pure creatures.

Competition 24/7 -

You

against yourself.

Oh, the pages of the books

are turning

yellowish, vomit-like.

Old stories from your childhood -

Taste of honey now it’s a bit too sweet

There’s always something wrong,

something to fix.

Condemnation 24/7 -

You

against yourself

and the whole wide world.

Forever delayed.

Mind as a morgue.

Active passivity.

Impossible 'P'’s combo -

still, you long for it -

you want to live it each second.

You'd even beg on your knees:

"Perfection and purity - please!

24/7, now and forever;

I don't want to be God

I just don't want to be

a weak human being -

24/7, now and forever;

Amen, amen."

Took me two dead brothers to learn not to want to be number 1. We live in a world that forget the common people. Big companies will lay off thousands without a blink of a eye. Wealth and glory have took over kindness and common sense. Your poem speak the truth. If the common people of this world don't stand together. One day we will wish we did. A strong ending to a outstanding poem.

its societies disease..we are programmed from an early age that success is the means to a fulfilled life..it's only when we look back at our failures that we realise true success has nothing to do with material gain, vanity, greed, self worth..

can't blame the sheep if they eaten by the wolves blame the shepherd..

My mom always treats me as if I should be perfect. But, I can't be. So, she's always yelling at me saying I can't do anything right.. So, I could relate to this in a way. It's good:)

Strong but sad, perfection is a disease, everyone is trying to reach it because of how the world is today. Giving of false images and worry about what we eat. It's a mad world, no will ever be perfect without going against god's will. If we all looked perfected it would be a boring place...
Awesome poem!!
