The Sun Is Someway Wounded

The Sun Is Someway Wounded

A Poem by Karina Longo

All itchy where my hands
Your hands
Their hands can't reach -
Pain where the eyes cannot see
Contradictory paranoid feeling
Judged so strictly.

Cosmic, utopic, beautifully broken -
The Sun is someway wounded,
I know for a fact -
It may shine and irradiate happiness
But what if -
What if it burns
into some kind of orange screaming pain -
Like my brain?

Misjudged as I am
And you are
And they are
Scars at heart and soul -
Bruises inside, failed organism
Never to be noticed while your cheekbones
Are still rosy, sunset-like

They just want to get tanned,
Selfish bronze
Smiling summer
For they can't see
Selfish eyes cannot reach
and stone hearts cannot feel -
Inner pain, always refuted
But remember, warmth always sweats
And weeps.

Fragile symbols of eternity
That time cannot heal -
But I know for a fact
The Sun is someway wounded still.

Apparently I never reviewed this, which is weird, because I definitely meant to. I am terribly easily distracted though, so I guess I cannot be that surprised.

Anywho, my favorite thing about this poem is the multitude of bright colors and beautiful images you portray while never losing track of what is actually a pretty dark tone. Really well done, Karina.

This is beautiful and insightful, Karina. 'Selfish eyes cannot reach and stone hearts cannot feel" So much apathy today. I think you feel enough for several people however. lovely writing.

This is lovely! You have such a beautiful way with words and you paint the images and meanings within your poem with such care. Breath taking work!

Have read this three times over: the sun cries maybe .. hurt by Man .. polluted by another planet .. not sure, unsure. But do know that your words move me, take me somewhere other than a screen .. you phrase words in a way that emphasises with the reader yet you've gently painted a powerful regret or flaw .. i thi-i-nk

Whatever the meaning and no, we shouldnt analyse but we need to picture the movement of the words .. this touches me .. ' Selfish eyes cannot reach ~ and stone hearts cannot feel ' -

- Neva, it is not personal at all and not about skin cancer - but it can be! - art can be whatever you want to take from it!
I agree with you and I don't like to analyze poems either. I just read this phrase, 'the sun is someway wounded' in the midst of some scribbles of a lyricwriter and it catched my eye, so I thought I'd write a poem as mysterious as the title.
Thanks for liking my piece. :)

I am thinking and oops I am the one who believes poetry shouldn't be analyzed that perhaps this is about skin cancer. I suppose what I mean by analyzing a poem is by trying to make it into something personal for the poet. We write about so many things and everything is not always about us. Sorry for rambling...........this is a wonderful poem.

"Misjudged as I am

A lot of hidden story in the poem. So many lines stood out.
"But remember, warmth always sweats
And weeps. "
A excellent poem. Thank you.
