My King Of Hearts

My King Of Hearts

A Poem by Monique Jackson

The way you hold my heart,

The way you've captured my soul,

Even when I want to run away you never let me go,

Seeing all my faults,

Knowing my many fears,

Still you're here looking well beyond my tears,

I can't even deny,

The many days and nights,

I prayed to God that you'd never leave my side,

Even though I have the scars,

From the many times I fell in love before,

But this time when I fall I know I will receive so much more,

God knew my heart,

He has felt all my pain,

And He felt it was time to let the sun shine through the rain,

Never would've thought,

Nor could I have even imagined,

That my heart could be so full again being love's companion,

Once broken beyond recognition,

In the darkest corners the pieces departed,

Yet trading ashes for beauty for the keeper of my heart,

Crowned in royalty,

The son of The Great King,

Now the possessor of a love song I thought my heart would never sing,

I'll pray with you,

Through the good times and the bad,

Until one day we will look back and realize we are the best we never had,

God was preparing us,

Giving us the strength and the tools to survive,

So, the lessons we learned would stand the test of time,

Here we stand,

Gazing into each other's eyes,

Knowing undoubtedly in the heart of my King all the answers lie,
