American Soldiers

American Soldiers

A Poem by Chloe Christine

To them you're a hero,

you protect and save lives.

You put them before yourself,

and put you life on the line.

You're not fighting for luxury,

you're fighting for peace.

You're not hurting other lives',

you're brave beyond belief.

They only want our freedom,

saints are what they're called.

But consider this when you drift;

I think you're all wrong.

When you go to war and fight for years,

the last thing you are is peacful.

Go switch places with our 'enemies',

you'll see our lives are blissful.

If you fight for actual freedom,

that's a whole other story.

Lives are being ruined over there;

try to see what my point is.

I may not know the entire story,

but I know lots of little bits.

Consider how our country acts,

before we call them terrorists.
