They've Been Fooled

They've Been Fooled

A Poem by S. Waldo
"

The ocean and all of its mysterious wonders is a constant in my mind--nothing says peace and tranquility than the sounds of the ocean

"
I see the billowing of the canvas bleached white,
Flying in the salty wind
High above my sight.

I smell the burn of gunpowder
Muskets and sweat
Mixed with the sounds of waves getting louder and louder

My legs worked better out there
It's on land where I waver
Stumbling about as a newborn calf.

The ocean surrounded me, glistening and sparkling
Like the precious jewels i hid in my chest
That everyone appeared to be after

We worked long and hard
digging for hours
Decoy spots--they'll never find it

Alas, if only life were that perfect
No one likes a turn-coat
Especially if they're a deserter

I would have my life end with my ship
With my ocean, with my crew
The ocean was my home

But even as I stand here
Noose about my neck
I smile in jest--they've been fooled.

For what more could I ask,
Then for the shimmering waves
the crisp blue skies, the salty air, the fresh breeze

As you see, my treasure was in plain sight
if only they had looked
To the left and to the right.

No one can take my memories
Not even now as I swing lifeless before them.
Little do they know, I am once again,
sailing the seven seas til the end of time

Very well - nicely put & captured in words. Your love for ocean is reflecting off the shamoor of your words. Even i agree: "-nothing says peace and tranquility than the sounds of the ocean " so true and legitimate. Only the beauty of ocean & the dust of sand can understand the virtue of these deepen words. Enjoyed reading your story fairy written undisguised with the conceptualization of poetry. Definitely, looking forward to ending my friend's request, and looking forward to reading your work, shortly. Cheers, Miss Waldo.
