The Darkness of Light

The Darkness of Light

A Poem by Lonesome Traveler

Oh the lonely day has come again
That is when I would say
"Where have you been friend?
I wish you could stay"

I am no one, no one at all
In my world, really alone
With no one to share the fall
No love has ever shown

I still remember the face
The face of eternal beauty
And wonderful grace
That really has grasped me

She was, in my world, the light
That ended my dreary darkness
And I thought she might
Be the one I would caress

Her laugh was music
That gives me shivers of love
And if she was sick
I send prayers up, like a dove

She was the apple of my eye
But I would never have thought
She would make me cry
When her love was sought

I was caring, caring indeed
And put away the knife
I never gave her just a seed
I gave her the tree of life

Sadly, I failed in this quest
May the love that I gave
Be my last full request
Until  I step on my grave

I still love her, with all my heart
Sadly what she thinks
of is we must be really apart
That's when my heart sinks

Oh loneliness has come again
This is the time I realize
It really is my life long friend
And he says it's better to die
