Treasure Chest

Treasure Chest

A Poem by Laura Kate

Lying on you chest
felt as if I was rolling over
on the warm golden sands
of the island
known only to us two.

The silence
carried with it the certainty of forever -
like listening to the incessant ebbing and flowing
of the water’s gentle tides.

Your face is my fresh start,
as clear as the fresh blue sea.

Your heart is my new home,
safe, with space for me.

Your skin, a blank new canvas,
every inch for me to explore.

Your hands both my rocks and my bandages, for me to hold and to to adore.

Your smile, a beaming lighthouse, blinding away memories I wish to forget.
Your voice, an angel from heaven, drowning out all the pain I ever felt.

All the mistakes I have made
I made them all in haste,
impatiently waiting for you
wondering why you never came.

And now that you’re here,
I look back on it all with a smile,
cherishing the haunts of my past as my lessons,
which lead me
eventually
to you.

this is so sensual in a very subtle way..."your face is my fresh start"
