Play

A Poem by Laura Kate

Play me.
I'm the guitar you
trace your fingers through
I feel you in my hollowed core
vibrating through me
and I want to sing
the sweetest song
so that you'll know
it'll always be you
Play me.
From under each string you lift
flows heavenly warmth.
Only you
can pick my strings
only you
can keep me in tune
over and over
over and over.
Play me.

"Play me" is not only a pleading for love but an expression of trust, the willingness to be vulnerable. So much richness in the guitar, especially played without other instruments. I love the imagery and emotion this brings to the reader, Laura. Another original write with a unique voice.
