Christmas Cheer; It's Finally Here!

Christmas Cheer; It's Finally Here!

A Poem by Louise Winter

The air is filled with mistletoe kisses
Also there are Christmas wishes.
Little kids, so filled with joy
Listen to the story of that poor boy

Whilst warm orange fires crackle in the scene.
Kids jump into bed; they're oh so keen
To fall asleep that cold, dark night;
All curled up in bed, what a wonderful sight.

Waiting for the morn to come
When they can go and have some fun.
Gathering presents around the tree
The kids are smiling with such glee.

Paper shrewn all over the floor
And not too soon, there's a knock at the door.
Relatives arrive, arms laden with gifts
Kids almost question if Santa exists.

But Christmas Day is finally here
After waiting so long, so give me a cheer
Have some fun and come along
Fill the crispy air with winter song!

Author's Note

Louise Winter
The poor boy referred to in the first stanza is Timothy Cratchit (also known as "Tiny Tim") from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Just thought I'd mention that.

I'm sorry if this poem isn't very good and I know it isn't one of my best, but I'm really in the Christmas spirit at the moment and I did have fun writing this, so I suppose that is all that matters
