Changed

Changed

A Poem by Light

Do you know the definition of sadness?
To have your heart ripped out your chest?
To feel your love fade away
And then have no one left?

To be forced to change
The fabrication of my soul
Either that or be despised
By the only me I had known

But I did it
I changed for you
I forgot who I was
And killed the me you knew

And while I died
A new me was born
One of a plain barren inside
That didn't want to feel anymore

Anger has faded
Pride washed away
Hatred dissipated
But there's something still in pain

I still feel sad at the loss
Of the one you once loved
To let go of the old me
Was to accept the one you could not love

But it's almost funny...
Even succumbing to this grief
I find that as this darkness covers me
That I finally am finally at peace

This is heartbreakingly beautiful. It's relatable on so many levels... Kind of reminds me of my poems.

My favorite lines honestly are "And while I died/ A new me was born." That really stuck with me and actually made me think. I feel like those two lines in a way make the poem.

I can't wait to read more of your work! Keep it up!
