Lost

Poetry assignment

I lost something very important.
I cannot recall the name.
It held so much warmth,
and tender care;
the outside world couldn't scare me
with this in my possession.
The nightmares, though, they drove deep within me.
Eventually the seeds did sow.
No more bravery or love there,
just a coward finding its home.
And that something I just can't recall
fled for its own safety.
Through caverns and burrows deep inside,
until it was lost for good.
I still can't find a single trace
of that something I can't recall the name of-
Yet I am still searching.
