Pride and Shame

Pride and Shame

A Poem by Susan M. Fenn
"

Contradicting emotions

"

Writhing, twisting

Fighting for the surface

Pride

and

Shame

Knowing what should be

Versus what is

Knowing what could be

Versus the facts

Pride

and

Shame

Feelings of intensity

Relish in the good

Drown in the bad

Which is which

Pride

or

Shame

Dignity, egocentricity,

Humility, doubt

There is no balance

Tilting the scale

One should out weigh

The other's to blame

There is no escape

from

Pride

and

Shame

Interesting point of view. Pride and shame are mere attributes you can accept or refuse.I prefer to let others judge if I have anything to be proud of. I no longer feel shame for being different I regret some things I have done as most people do .But regret is not shame its merely that I have learnt something from expereince
