Daddy-Dearest

Daddy-Dearest

A Poem by melancholia skies
"

This is very personal and deals with the topic of cancer.

"

The memories of childhood were always filled...
With Daddy dearest.
Spending time with him,
Going on adventures with him,
He was the sweetest.
Daddy was the one who always held my hand.
Daddy was the one who scared away the monsters.
He always found a way to make me laugh.

Daddy was the one who always held my hand.
Daddy was the one who scared away the monsters.
But now Daddy is fighting a demon.
A demon which rattles him.
I waited for him and I nearly shattered into glass...
When I heard the news.
A tumor... A cancerous mass.
I can't seem to cope...
I'm fighting to keep hope.

Will Daddy survive to hold my hand?
Will Daddy survive to scare away the monsters?
To shelter me from the storm?
Or bring me to tears from laughter?
What happens... to my happily ever after?
What about him? Why him?

All I know is that he'll fight to the end.
Even if it's a lot to comprehend.
We'll take time to give injuries mend.

I really like the imagery here, making cancer into a demon for him to fight. Like making it a actual physical tangible thing with which to be dealed with.
