New Love

New Love

A Poem by Ally Baker

New love is the ultimate cure

For anything that can go wrong

His arms can surround me and

The pains of the world melt away

His hands are like the sun

As they run over my body.

They can dry my tears in seconds

And make my skin burn with need

The same hands hold my chin

And force me to face him

His eyes boring into mine,

silently telling me of his love

His smile lifts the terrible weight

Of all the stress in my life

His words make my heart swell

And goosebumps cover my body

There is no one else in the world

When I am with him, fused to his side.

His love fills me with a beautiful light

That chases away all of my demons

Because of him, the thought of an event

That once caused me to break down,

Curl in on myself until the pain broght

Unconciousness has no power over me.

Now when I think of such events,

The only thing that I can feel is

The echo of a once unbearable pain

And a smile for my strength to overcome.

New love is a cure for all things,

An antidote for the pains of human life,

Something that holds you up, lifts you

Higher to the point where there is no pain.
