Stuck In The Mud

Stuck In The Mud

A Poem by Luke L

I went for a drive
Had a full tank of gas when I started
Going camping in a british columbian forest
And on the way it started to rain

I drove uphill
On my way
Dragging tires behind me
With s****y front wheel drive
In my beater

I made it onto a trail
It was a little worn down
But I didn't think much of it
Till I started to sink
Then panic started setting in

I revved my engine
I pushed at the hunk of metal and gas
I even got others to help
But to no avail
I got stuck in the mud

And I'm trying so hard
To pull myself out of the mud
But the foundation is hard to find
I'd like to drive on the perfect pavement
But for now I'm stuck in the mud

Clever metaphor for an obviously different situation entirely. I can see through the lines at you grasping for more and even with kind words and help from friends and strangers you go along a dangerous slippery path because that is where the object of your desire lies. Although you start out with a full tank of gas aka energy and hope it only burns up as your frustration heightens. Very well balanced read. Excellent use of words! Bravo

"I'd like to drive on the perfect pavement
But for now I'm stuck in the mud."

Were you irritated when you wrote this? For some reasons, I had imagined you smiling. Also these two lines speak volumes. Nicely done!:x

L...I'm usually commenting on a poem if I'm asked to read. For some reason, I've looked at this several times and nothing comes to me. Wish I could be helpful...sorry...bobc

don't worry about man, if you find there is nothing to say then say nothing it's all good
I've been stuck in the mud, the sand, the surf and flipped off a berm onto my side. I wasn't always driving though

ha fair enough, what's a berm?
A muddy good write. lol. Quite awesome the way you take an everyday thing and give metaphorical meaning to spare.
