Diving Down A Waterfall

Diving Down A Waterfall

A Poem by Luke L

My other was the Rocks
And I was born
Diving down a waterfall
Into the Ocean

There I swam
My gills took the oxygen
From the water
I was a carp

As a teen
I rubbed up against
Other scales
Of finned females

I spawned at the swim meet
Only the best to compete
Got to procreate
So I fired the cannon

Stabbed at once a dozen times
A pincushion to feathered blades
I was carried away
In gulls grip

A very fishy, slimy, slippery metaphor; the diving though, that was the game. Also somehow reminds me of a salmon swimming ever upstream at spawning season. Powerful myriad of aquamarine images.
