A Solitary Magenta

A Solitary Magenta

A Poem by Kenneth Compton
"

For my friend Rachel, who stays at my side through all I put her through

"
A solitary magenta
In the color wheel of my heart
She stays, despite my indiscretions
Despite my fickle fleeting fallacies

A standing oak
Amidst the weeping winds
She stays, not hindered
By the passage of time or the folly of youth

She is a constant star
With which to chart a course by
Always a friend, always a friend
Despite my fickle fleeting fallacies
