I Write

I Write

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

Positioning my heart just perfectly

so that emotions pour into my well of ink

for only you….I write

My emotions splattered

on the once naked page are meant for you

Will you caress my words tonight

holding them in places I will never dwell?

Read the words

Let them dance upon your tongue

As they rest in the curls upon your chest

Quench your thirsts with them

Listen to my private whispers

Allow my warm breath to enter your soul

and simmer there as double entendres

do dirty deeds upon the page

Yes, my darling

you need not question

tis for you…I write

I've often wondered why I write or for whom do I write. I've come to terms that there are many reasons I write, including emotional release, mental therapy, and raw need. But I've rarely written for a particular person though I've written with certain people in mind. While I do not have a set person that inspires me to write, I do have set experiences with people that inspire me to write. Regardless, Nature is my true Muse, and to Her I devote my oeuvre. Beautiful poem, Lydi!

Romance is my favorite genre, absolutely. Thank you once again. Lydi**
I almost feel like this should be whispered when spoken. I am enamored of these lines:

Read the words
Let them dance upon your tongue
As they rest in the curls upon your chest
Quench your thirsts with them

Haha they never listen....my pleasure indeed :-)
Your words are indeed ones of devotion and adoration for that one in a million! I do hope that "someone" had the pleasure to embrace them as gifted from your heart to theirs!
Romantic and lovely!!

Artwork and words were amazing. I wonder who will read our words and what we will with them? I enjoyed the desire of the poem. Felt like a soft voice tempting you to enjoy the words. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Wow Lydi, you have such a way with words.

"Listen to my private whispers
Allow my warm breath to enter your soul
and simmer there as double entendres
do dirty deeds upon the page"

The last two lines are great.
