Jiggled and Jostled

Jiggled and Jostled

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

Sometimes it's just not enough

"

Artwork by Richard Johnson “Evening Comes”

Love jiggled and jostled
through the humid salt air
the mercury continued to rise
till it seemed even the ice
in my Beefeater’s and tonic
would ignite

T
ossed and tumbled emotions
rode the waves
while your magical fingers
strummed your guitar
voluptuous music
on a heretofore wordless journey

M
y words floated on your chords
like golden stars in an ebon sky
inspired by humid salt air
love jiggled and jostled
but never quite found its home

I could hear the music, feel your words...so sad the two never quite found there home, but perhaps some relationships are just not meant to be. Love your description - jiggled and jostled...and the Richard Johnson painting is one of my favorites. The perfect painting to accompany your lovely words.

This week has been so busy for me...I'm so glad I can take a few minutes and catch up on your poetry. :) Julie

I actually had to stop scrolling down and go back up to take in the beauty of the painting! My heart actually skipped a beat... a vision.
Ok, now for the poem. You mixed a playful tone with a sad melancholy. I do not have this gift. I am either playful and silly or all business.
A jiggle and jostle can be fun and playful and it can be disruptive and arbitrary.
I find it interesting that "love" was actually given credit for showing up here, even if it had to move on... for now.
Lovely, as I am leaning to expect from your pen.

My compliments for a great poem and picture. You certainly have a lot of talent and I like the fact that you're articulate in your diction. Well done.

Sounds like a hot and heavy love affair never found its roots here. Still lovely memories linger...

Now that's pretty damn hot! :-)

How utterly romantic, sweet memory indeed :-)
I'm thinking maybe a bigger glass is in order. Lydi, this was wonderful, I love the feel and the format of this and the theme is beautiful. Sometimes it is meant to be and sometimes it is not, but finding that out may be the best fun of all. Nicely done my friend.

Oh darn to that last line!! But your poem is just beautiful and the imagery fills all one's senses. Love the rising heat of that first verse, the exploration of emotion in the second, but the connection never quite made at the end...Sigh...

Thanks very much for this great review. Have a good day. Lydi**
Oh dang, when a relationship floats out to sea riding on a salt water wave it is void of any possibility of becoming "fresh" again. It is then one realizes the home it shall find shall only be on some distant shore.
It is jiggled and jostled right out the eddy of one's heart!
Lovely image with equally as lovely accompanying words!

Thank you so much, Sheila. Enjoy your day. Lydi**
Magical! By the last stanza I'm sniffing salt air... "My words floated on your chords," is a brilliant line!
...and yes, the pic is senses-sational.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this twice,

Thanks for the share

Well it sounds lovely until it lasted. Alas we can't force love. A beautiful poem.

First...love the picture you chose! Second...great poem, my friend! I have been here before...attempting desperately to fit that square peg into an octagonal hole, and sometimes, though we feel flashes of the fire, love just isn't in the cards. Great imagery; I'm especially fond of the "heat" elements and the sounds of the guitar. Nicely done.

wow an almost love...so close, the passion played on the chords, but the words of the love song hung in the salt air and never quite got to the lips.

really good stuff...lydi..
