little girl dreams

little girl dreams

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

best friends just understand

"

we learned with each wrinkle
acquired skills with each silver hair
sharing golden secrets through the years
                      either whispered
                             or with a smile

                                across a crowded room
        quite satisfying
yet we always knew
try as we might to stop it
time would pass
                          and eventually
we would reap what we sowed
                still we smile
knowing somehow
              our little girl dreams
                       will continue to prevail

This reminds me so much of my mother and her best friend, growing older and wiser as old friends do, together... I enjoyed the form his piece takes, too. Nice!

Your mom is a lucky lady to have such a friend. Thanks for the review, Rita. Lydi**
Knows where all the skeletons are buried and probably helped to bury some of those too!....I adore this Lydi, I lost my best friend Dina from grade school last January and no one could ever replace what we had together, this one really touched my heart. I bet Lil' Lydi was spunky too....

I bet those dreams are vivid and in Technicolor!
Yes, if we never stop dreaming then those dreams do prevail.
I hope your skeletons don't get too lonely in the closet. Ha.
Playful, youthful, and as lovely as the poet who penned the write.

"Friends are family you choose for yourself" I think this is true absolutely, and I loved this write because it reminds me of all the people I loved and still love as family, even though they maybe far away or I may never speak with them again, they formed who we are now...and this reminds me of that.
