who can truly say?

who can truly say?

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by anna razumovskaya

who can truly say?

armed with my pen and yellow pad

i ventured out there

the mcintosh air was intoxicating

writing words of fantasy

of monotone desire

but then…oh….the taut denim of his jeans

eyes where storms gathered

i needed to feel that rain

be the poet who experienced life

not just fondled words

my house of morals collapsed

the smell of my ink now mingling with our passion

a shadow of smoke probably wafted above my head

but it was so long ago

who can truly say?

Passion gathers in your pen. Once there it explodes into poetic mastery.

Al, your review is downright poetic. Thanks so much. Lydi**
This is the perfect description of how I've often come to the page with a rather mundane idea, but then something catches fire & I'm off on a sensual fantasy. Gotta love those taut jeans defining muscular thighs *wink! wink!* As always, beautifully engaging & artful word crafting, with great artwork to go with it! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

That is a selfie? WOW, you really know how to take them!
Art work and poem are magical and world-class. You draw the power of comparison between experiencing word and life's experiences. And the winner is...You!

An off broadway memory of requieted desire...
walking in the rain... "taut denim of his jeans... eyes where storms gathered".
'Who can truly say' where fantasy begins and dreams end. Soft sigh, Pat

'.. where storms gathered ~ i needed to feel that rain ~ be the poet who experienced life ~ not just fondled words..;

So often words betray what many would cede too - tis part of a mirror image of desire. For others, bring on the game.. perhaps! You write with such energy and passion, Lydi. xx

Loved his profile that you sketched, "the taut denim of his jeans
eyes where storms gathered"

I can feel her restraint slipping away, to create a beautiful memory that still shines through the haze of time. Indeed life is truly lived in such moments!

Thanks for such beautiful poetry. Loved the accompanying artwork ⚘
