A Poem by Lydia Shutter

photography courtesty of picevo.me

when i gazed at the calendar today

a postcard sent from the past arrived

it's a date i remember

a date making me smile a salty smile

the postcard had your handwriting

meticulously crossed t's and dotted i's

i can almost smell your cologne as i remember

you were the cobblestone street i skipped down

the pool that was the perfect temperature

the wallpaper may be faded in this memory

but to me it is forever beautiful

and in april i still remember

WOW! WOW! And WOW! This is the perfectly crafted little memory nugget! I love it! The calendar-to-postcard transition is startlingly crafted & smoothly delivered. You have a literal goldmine of sparkling imagery in your head & you manage to pick out the perfect tiny collection to paint each uninhibited scene in your poems! *smile* Fondly, Margie

What a beautiful stroll down memory lane, and the way you incorporated the visuals with the sensual as one flowing stream was spectacularly presented. I loved this poem,

"The wallpaper may be faded in this memory but to me it is forever beautiful". I love the image of the fading wallpaper as it relates to a memory that may fade but stay "forever beautiful". Often times we must rely on those memories to sustain us. I love how you are able to make such moments come alive to be cherished and held close to the heart. A beautiful tribute to a dear memory and the month of April with the hope of spring ahead.

Atmospheric appealing write – threads of memory tied together in a poetic remembrance triggered by a postcard – exquisite! PS Love the B&W image as April can start off as a black and white month until the flowers bloom … :-)
