A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by mahood sabzi
on afternoons like this
it's warm enough to quiet heavy thoughts
and steamy enough for a deliverance of the soul
you take liberties with me
but i don't back away
because i love the way you want me
yes, i admit it
i adore the upside down world you showed me
even after i turn it right side up
you see through the latticework facade i created
to confuse the rest of the world
you are not perplexed
instead you are fascinated
and really so am i
on afternoons like this

Great art and poetry meet. Brilliant merging into an eloquent, seductive, elegant write. Lydi, your words paint the geisha face behind the latticework, opening lace curtains to her love. “I love the way you want me”-on a warm and intoxicating ‘afternoon like this’. Your beautiful words and imagery bring us there and we want to stay forever. Kudos!

Thanks, Dawn. Lydi**
a peaceful, passionate feel to this one...especially like "you see through the latticework facade i created"---
damn good line there.
turning an upside down world right side up....
so grateful is one who can do this.

You have painted a masterpiece of passionate Art... a quiet afternoon of Kaleidoscope movements reflecting moments of persuasion.

Ah a triste that envelopes the attention of the protagonist as she expresses her captivation with someone who has moved her. Nice free verse.
