flawed

flawed

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

thoughts during a rainstorm

"

artwork by mandy tsung

the wind whistles
then whips the palm fronds
with an almost evil intensity
neon lightning rips through the sky
i search for answers
but every discovery turns into a disruption
miscalculations
disarticulations
raindrops rumba on the roof
water whispers to the windows
a palm frond takes flight
then
an epiphany
the epitome of the absurd
yes that's it
the answer to everything
my life is grammatically flawed!

wow..."raindrops rumba on the roof"
what a line...
analogy of life to grammar...so cool.
first line i read as "wind whistles"
unless that was intended because of the last line.
but still....i am also searching for answers...and not finding many at all...
great poem, Lydi.

This is some of the most delightful wordplay I've seen around here in weeks! Your alliteration is off the charts, not just well-crafted but perfectly-balanced heavy peppering that makes my toes curl! You convey how my mind can become pinball-like as I watch & bounce around within nature scene, a ton of turbulence, especially storms in the mnts here! Love this playful romp of words! In the most beautiful way ...a way in which no others could be...we are all on different journeys and different lessons to be learnt...through the storms of life we rise out of the ashes to try again even when we might not understand why..wonderfully written🌹

Fabulous imagery here Lydi** and also some wonderful phrases.

raindrops rumba on the roof, is one of them. That really got me listening, and I heard it. Clever write. I never leave your page without feeling fully satisfied. You consistently produce first rate poetry.

You are more than welcome and it is nothing but the truth :)
Your language paints so vividly yet your thoughts are as clear as the rain dancing down on that roof, Lydi! You slowly, carefully create mind sketches til they're fully framed and glorious. I wonder if you think mistakes create alternative tangents? Your writing always adds yet another dimension to.. whatever.

Perhaps wind down when you can.. helps the soles of your feet as well as your spirit.
Amazing alliteration and a message that applies to far too many aspects of life ... my / your / their life is "flawed" (grammatically and otherwise). - Jim

Any discovery grinds mind and gives a new perception. Lightning rips through the sky you search for answers. Raindrops on the roof whisper and you have heard the nature's thrill. This poem is excellently penned with beauty of wonderful vision. Your effort is highly appreciated.

Thank you very much, Kumarmani. I appreciate the review. Lydi**
Lydi dear... an awakening often occurs in a storm
of emotions. "raindrops rumba on the roof" and
the rain whistles" There is a realization of
answers... when our heart follows a rainbow of
promises. truly a touching tethering of prayers.
As ever, Pat
