just a trace

just a trace

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

"
just a trace of a thought
nearly invisible
then suddenly leaping into focus
my heart picks up the vibration
a typo with the beat of a tambourine
sputtering syllables filled with sad silent letters
are now somehow tangible
my nerve endings fray
till i can almost braid them
reaching
reaching
for the right words
because surely they have settled
at the bottom of my thoughts
but the only words that bare themselves to me
are the ones i wish i couldn't feel so strongly
i miss you

such a beautifully written poem...
especially like the "sputtering syllables..." line...

and just how inspiration comes...unseen, feeling it is not going to happen...
and then suddenly there is clarity of words, of lines...of themes...and they are the words of real, deep feelings...
tangible ones, not invisible ones.

Some beautiful phrasing here Lydi**. Several examples of wonderful poetic expression. It is always such a pleasure reading you and your posted artwork is always so very carefully selected and meaningful. Red December Leaves is quite mesmerising and the last of the leaves and their fall reminds me of loss. This poem made me think of my Mum. She is still with us, but not as she once was. She is fragile and ailing. I miss her as she used to be.

nerves frayed until they could be braided ... really like that Lydia .. great pic to match your poetry .. the imaging with the tambourine is palpable ... my own heart fluttering in a scary kind of way .. we do miss our loved ones ... well said ... very emotive for me
