conundrum

conundrum

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

while i munch on spicy conundrum cheese
and crunchy enigma crackers
the clouds somersault through the sky
and will do so
till night leans on day
making her succumb to his dark powers
the wind kisses my cheek
the ocean plays with my feet
luring my soul into submission
and suddenly solving the conundrums of the world
seems like a chore for anyone else but me

Beautiful image and poem Lydi! Absolutely yes, “Conundrums” and “enigmas” float away like overcast clouds when the delightful seashore heals us. Your metaphors appeal to all the senses, as does your playful personification. Aaahh yes- 1-2-3-Breathe! Funny how the bad air just disappears....Brava my friend! Xo

conundrum cheese & enigma crackers . . . you win the prize for the most inventive attention-grabbing opening that I've run across in 2020! Poets die from jealousy over creativity dripping so prolifically! A poem like this is a challenge to all of us to UP our games! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

WOW, Margie, that is quite a compliment. Thank you so much. Lydi**
Your words match the vastness of the ocean, Lydi. They drift on and on as if reaching out to your cafe friends offering a share of your peace, space and air-light.. so very beautiful.. I for one, accept.

Your conundrum and enigmas are as they can be, personal and magical. Such wonderful language, Lydi

Lydia... you are a mystical soul that envisions
solving intricate problems with conundrum cheese
and crunchy enigma crackers. To me this makes
sense, as clouds somersault through the sky ... till night leans on day.
Let others solve the puzzles. You will ponder the Universe as the
wind kisses your cheek and the ocean plays with your feet....
luring your soul into submission. Our present day circumstances
need brilliant poetry.... to survive and keep our resistance at bay.
truly, Pat

Sitting near the vastness of the sea somehow drives the conundrums away! Nice one Lydi.

Always room on the beach blanket for a friend! :) Thanks for the review, Robert. Lydi**
Such a dreamy, savoury poem. The ocean wind can be such a lover in itself. I’m glad to discover your lovely poetry Ms. Lydia.

I am definitely shopping in the wrong supermarket Lydi. I will look out for that cheese and those crackers though, seeing as they seem to inspire so many wonderful lines, making up a truly beautiful whole.
After a long, hard think, 'til night leans on day wins for me 😀

Yes, put them on your shopping list! :) Thanks so much for the wonderful review. Lydi**
Your poem speaks to the power of nature, especially the ocean, to transport our minds to a calm and peaceful place. It's where we can see things from a different perspective, and grasp the reality of our smallness in this universe. I read wisdom here, too. This is the discipline of a wise person. Beautiful art, too, Lydia.

You’re welcome.
Very nice use of imagery here creates a word picture of the beach. I usually think of night as feminine (Yin) to day's masculine (yang), but the opposite works well here. I like the ending. When you've got scenery like this, why waste it pondering the imponderables?
