my personal anthem

my personal anthem

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

i ride your words like horses

they take me on adventurous roads

where the magic of the stars

conjures romantic illusions

so large they cast a colossal shadow

yet so small

they fit in the pocket of my favorite blue jeans

that’s where they’ll live

till the next time i want to get out of dodge

by riding your words

into the vermillion sunset

through the years

your ginger scented syntax

has become my “how to stay happy” manual
my personal anthem of sorts

the one i hum through the dark days

"ginger scented syntax" love that phrase...
and i would like one of those "how to stay happy" manuals...which definitely would come in as a handy reference these days.
in the second stanza, second line...seems I wanted to put a word in between "time" and "want"--

i think those horses are great as long as they don't buck the words off.

Thanks so much, Robert. Always appreciate your visits. Lydi**
This is an anthem of love where its flag raises hope high above the clouds and sound nigh over the waves. Well penned and conveyed from Lydia.
