the day was waking up
as we walked along the shore
the ocean wore a dress of azure blue
with a bit of white lace at the collar
the water kissed my toes
as you  kissed my lips
and the velvet day began

The imagery can't be ignored. It takes you to the beach and drops the reader in a picturesque setting that so many are familiar with and treasure for an eternity. The sounds of the waves breaking can soothe the most rigid of souls. Now i wish I was on the beach!

That was a deliciously beautiful memory dear Lydi... I am now a bit jealous but grateful for it's share! I must get to a beach and soon!

Such velvet memories in such vivid colors. You walk us gently and beautifully through them. Love never fades...

You're welcome dear Ms. Lydi.
Every time I read your words Lydi, I feel a bit like Gerry Garcia saying "I was there, man!"
You took me straight to that beach, where I could smell the sea air and hear the sounds of gulls, giggling children on the pier and almost taste the hot dog and candy floss stalls.
Perhaps coincidence, perhaps my intuition reading into this, but today is to be a scorcher and of all days and reasons to be stuck indoors, I am waiting in for the central heating engineer for my annual inspection (not me, the central heating)
Hopefully will be done by lunchtime and be left a little time to drive down the coastal roads and get to see some of those sights for myself.
I'll look out for that hottie in the hat 😀

Ah, but that we all could have such velvet days! I had never thought of the ocean as having a blue dress and white collar, but the imagery fits quite well. I'll try to recapture this image as hurricane season progresses.

What a perfect way to start the day Lydi**. Wonderful scenery and a love who makes you tingle from top to toe. Felt that velvet kiss. Nothing like a romantic stroll along the beach. Keep safe and well my friend.

Thank goodness for memories. They keep us young.
