it was a buffet for my soul
the warm water
smoothed my rough edges
as the waves whispered to me
the sea air cleared my head
and seagulls sang louder
than my stress
even though nothing i write today
will be recited by the greats
my smile knows
that is not as important
as what i feel
right now

Ditto Jacob’s sentiments and take on your poem Lydi... I could feel the tension melting away as you wrote, replaced by a calm known only to poets after finishing a poem.... the word that also comes to mind when thinking on this poem is “nice”...

the feeling we get from writing, the feeling we give to others....that is what's important.
Not the attention...This poem is a lovely way to express how wonderful and important the creative process is to those who are real poets.

So glad you understand, Jacob. I knew you would. Thank you. Lydi**
A buffet for the soul, I love that thought.
Those little escapes are so healing, aren't they?
I can fall into this scene so easily.
