a remember day

a remember day

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

as tropical storm eta, soon to be hurricane eta, approaches, my thoughts are reflective

"

"raindrops on my window" by n. ramesh

the storm outside
makes this a remember day
the raindrops wake
the people who were the sunshine
the ones who warmed my cool nights
and brightened up the dark days
a basket of simpler times
brought to me by the raging storm
i traipse through these good times
knowing the irony  is rich

Sitting here at first light with stormy windy swirling (first rain of the season yesterday & more possibly) . . . I'm wondering what to write to show my anticipation for long-awaited rain, but then I found your poem & see that you already expressed my stormy maelstrom! Thanks for feeling my swirl (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I love rainy days, they beg to be poetry to the memories they bring to mind and this is charming.

Thanks so much, Patricia. Lydi***
The rain always makes me remember those who are gone and even your title is sublime Lydi.
The beginning, a few taps on the pane and we are drawn to what is about to come, while instantly remember past storms shared with those now gone and how safety in numbers is only truly appreciated when alone.
Perhaps remembering their memory is our way of being less alone when the near future of a storm beckoning.

Irony is indeed rich as we remember what it all was like outside the storms and in the simpler times. Amazing piece.

Thank you very much, Ken. Lydi**
Rain and storm always stir up something in the soul and such fond memories too. The poet seems in one such reflective mood, remembering those who made the past warmer and brighter. Loved the last line and the word choise therein...Always something great to take away from your poetry.

My pleasure always, Ms. Lydi.
A rainy day is cherished memories of
thoughtful bouquets reflected in
raindrops during a tropical storm
when life is reborn and heavens song
plays throughout the wind and rain. gently, Pat

I imagine reading this by the window hypnotized by the drops of rain racing. So many say overcast weather and rain bums them out but it makes me grin huge! Great work Lydia!

love the metaphor here, Lydi...and also the pic as the rainbow reflects in the window.

Irony at its best...I have been luck to have many people be sunshine in my life...present company included.

What a wonderful thing to tell me, Jacob. Thank you so much!
I too love the rain and it in storms can also be so amazing. A storm can make a crazy world slow down a bit like lockdown. It's sad that it takes that. Lovely poem. And I like the picture as well. Tyfs

I believe we are scheduled to take things a bit further with some snow being forecast
We have had some previous freezing and I guess this all forebodes the beginning of nasty weather, but nothing quite raging yet
