let me believe

let me believe

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by josephine wall "earth mother"

you
embroider my essence
adjust the rabbit ears of my soul
allow my mind to breathe a breath of fresh ideas
all the while slaying my dragons
so tonight
let me be greedy
hug me with your imagination
i'll be the rambling colors in your kaleidoscope
grant me custody of your sparkling mind
just for tonight
let me believe i can have it all

Lydi, ever the romantic.... thank you for being this.... I see that words have captured your pen.... good thing cause then we get to read the thoughts that cascade through your mind..... "hug me with your imagination" I loved the idea of this, and of being the colors, the kaleidoscope that weaves through shared love...

I agree with Jacob, this poem is one of your best and I will also say loudly, NICE, poem.... hopefully your pen will stubborn;y remain in your hands collecting worda....

Someone my age would know what you mean by "adjust the rabbit ears of my soul" :) Poetic tribute to love.

It seems the days of my writing poetry are becoming few and far between, but my muse takes to light whenever I read you. What a run we've had, my friend...here's to many more!

I loved the above lines. We need people near to excite our mind and our imagination. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

You are welcome dear Lydia.
Other than embroidering our essence, love stitches our beings in oneness. It can make us, shake us to the core and cast a wide net.
Gorgeous lines with painting as a companion.

You are muchly welcome. As you say indeed.
I'm all yours Lydi! :))))))))))) i love this read .. it embraces me ... full Monty right from the start ... a very fortunate man to be the object of such poetry .. L3 .. such a delicate, intimate image .. to allow such touching of the soul .. super vulnerable. I am of the age that remembers well those rabbit ears and how touchy they could be to tune just right .. one must have a light "touch" .. "let me believe" exudes warmth and a glow of its own .. i love this poem .. great pic too! perfect match ... your the Queen Lydi! ;)

More than one meaning can be read into this one. Most of the qualities named could be attributed to either a lover or a higher power. Does that italicized "just for tonight" give a hint? Maybe, though, I am reading too much into this.

"embroider my essence" love that line, and then the idea with the rabbit ears...I was just thinking about that the other day...we were talking about satellite tv and remotes....ah the days of rabbit ears and actually having to get up to change the channels.

I like how you use these metaphors in describing love..."the rambling colors in your kaleidoscope"---
good stuff Lydi...
one of my favorites from you.

This was an enjoyable read. It speaks to who inspire us to our better selves, lifts us when we don't always have the strength to do so alone. That simply love us for who we are during our tough times. And in loving them we can do anything. Thank you Lydia for sharing your art.
