yes it's april

yes it's april

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork courtesy of susanart.com

i watch as the waves boldly bubble
painting the sand with their foam
a child-like muse
motions for me to come closer
i recognize her smile
i've missed her giggle
we body surf
through vowels and consonants
holding hands
we dance along the shore line
feeling the ocean kiss our toes
then it's time to build
a sand castle in the sand
cotton candy clouds
smile down on us
while seagulls sing us a song
yes, it's april
i teeter on the cusp
of nearly 69 years
and smile

I agree with the above lines. I am sixty-four and I dance with the grandchildren with Lake St. Clair. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

And me on 60, although I am still the child you describe in your lovely poem, perhaps an early teen :)
Hope you are well

It was indeed and thank you again for remembering.
What a gorgeous and joy-filled little write. Each time I revisit the ocean I see my little Muse there .... it just begs for me to do some writing. Yes, just a couple days to go for you. Happiest of happies. ~Jim

A very beautiful time in April and how meaningful every line...The moments feel so surreal in their feel. I loved this April poem.

Oh yes, what a couple lines those are.

it is good to get to smile at 69...and April is definitely not the cruelest month.

No, it is not. Thanks for the review, Jacob. Lydi**
Yes, spring can bring out the youth in all of us. And if you've taken care of yourself, you can still enjoy it, even at "the cusp of nearly 69 years."
