14 yearsA Poem by Lydia Shutterlike the ocean needs the shore like we seek shade when it’s torrid i miss you for years we switched roles i was now mothering you it felt unnatural too soon the sunset of your soul was easy to see i listened to your breathing slow searching for the way to leave me my heart still saw a glimmer of hope even when I knew it had flown suddenly your green eyes danced no more the stars were a bit dimmer i didn’t realize then as i walked the long hallway nothing would never be the same i still miss you no doubt i always will
