Crushing

Crushing

A Poem by MCO

She’s crushing.

He’s three times her age.

She’s shaking.

He’s her shrink.

He leans in closer,

Reassuring her-

“You have gifts”

She looks past him at the bookshelf.

She’s blushing.

She smiles to herself.

He’s pleading,

Quietly crying out,

“Don’t kill yourself.”

He’s her love.

He’s the reason she doesn’t do it.

He must secretly love her.

He must.

Everyone loves her.

He’s just another body she’ll throw aside,

Like all the other fools she pretended to love.

But he might be different.

They’re alone.

She knows he wants to play the game.

Her breath quivers.

He gets up and walks towards the door.

She’s crushing.

I loved this poem... the contradicting thoughts were very clever. I really enjoyed the story behind this too.. thank you for sharing it.
