Rivers of Sorrow

Rivers of Sorrow

A Poem by Miki
"

A poem about a woman who loses the man she loves. She tries to endure the pain she's feeling after he slips away, but she's at her breaking point.

"

Rivers of Sorrow

My heart is breaking

Smashing against the floor

Where have you gone

Why aren't you here now

I'm drowning in my pain

I have one favor to ask

Don't leave me alone

Don't leave my side

We promised nothing would separate us

Memories burned into my thoughts

They won't leave me be

They are haunting me after your passing

It was too late

You were already gone

They closed and sealed the box

They buried you within the earth

But you took my heart with you

There are rivers

I can feel them

They are like hot iron brands

They run down my face

You can't see them

They are invisible to the human eye

But I can feel them

These rivers of sorrow

I wait for the day that you will return

The day that I will be saved

I'm drowning in these rivers

I'm running out of air

Why am I alone at a time like this

Why did you have to leave me behind

I am forlorn

I must be forsaken

Though I still silently endure

This inner pain of mine

But I'm at my breaking point

Can't you tell

There are rivers

I can feel them

They are like hot iron brands

They run down my face

You can't see them

They are invisible to the human eye

But I can feel them

These rivers of sorrow

I walk to the bridge

It seems so far down

People passing by eye me

I don't care

I'm wearing my finest dress

That red dress

You loved that dress

The red dress was always your favorite

I watch the water below me

Through my own rivers of sorrow

Tears stain my cheeks

I take a step

The wind rushes by me

My hair whips across my face

Instead of my tears descending as I was

My tears ascended to the sky

I can't breathe

I'm drowning in my rivers of sorrow

I release my last breath

I sink deeper into the watery depths

My demise has finally come

My life flashes before my eyes

I see everything my life once was and still is

I see my hopes

My dreams

My happiness

I also see my pain

My regret

My sorrow

I'm walking down a dark path

Following a figure into a light ahead

You turn and beckon me forward

Eyes brimming with tears

A watery smile spreads across my face

I run to you

We embrace once again

We turn and enter the light

We are finally together

We will be together forever

Nothing can separate us now

Not even death

Author's Note

Miki
This is kind of an odd piece, haha. It came to me during the day and I pulled up an blank writing document and just simply started typing. In the end, this is what it turned out as, hehe. :) Hope you enjoyed reading it! Tell me what you think of it! :D If you spot anything that can and should be changed, let me know please. ^-^
