Fly - Inspiration

Fly - Inspiration

A Poem by Maya
"

A poem that I've written for my daughter about the power of believing in herself.

"

I can't do it!” she said with a frown

She went back to her seat, and sat herself down

You're right!” he exclaimed

as she looked down in shame

Hiding her face behind her long mane

I don't get it!” She said the next day

as if she it had changed since yesterday

He shook his head and then glanced down

OK, then give up! If you want it that way?

She thought for a moment

I'll try one more time, but I don't think I can

I'm just wasting my time.”

He laughed and agreed

she fell to her knees

she couldn't believe he could be so mean

Listen child, close your eyes,

can you see it? Can you see it fly?”

Puzzled as she was, she imagined a bird

souring gracefully, without a care in the world.

That bird never once let the thought cross it's mind,

that it wouldn't one day rule the sky.”

She opened her eyes, blinded with enlightment,

she tried one more time...

and laughed with excitement.

There is nothing out of reach,

and nothing is impossible

If you believe in yourself

You will be unstoppable.
