Children of War

Children of War

A Poem by MOON

All morning I await my fate

I hear guns and the sound of bombs

I fear now the hour is late

This my friend is not passing storms

You no longer shadowy forms

But men all black and eyes of hate

I fear your anger and power

Before you now I shall cower

Hold me on this fragile time span

Crush me in your blood spattered hand

I hold no politics no weight

Doomed ideology of State

Civil war will take me at eight

Shed no tears as I fall in strife

Old men play God with this young life

Shut windows of your soul spew hate

War and ego not a child’s ache

Grown men crushing me in their wake

WOW moon - as in all wars innocence is the first casualty. God forgive them for what they have done - they are all the same. Consumed by greed and safe in their palatial homes while they send out the common man to sacrifice his God-given gift of life for their sake.

Makes your blood boil. You are a catalyst for change Moon. I hope some of the 'powers that be' let such change into their hearts.

Great work

mans inhumanity to man will always abhor me

That mere children should be victims..or even witnesses of such horror is abysmal beyond imsgination

Great and sad poem Moon. Your heart could go out to the kids but sometimes they could be as bad as the grown ups. It depended where you were.

Unknown numbers of children die in war. I saw bad thing in Bosnia and in Africa. I block the visions out. Whole cities destroyed. People killed or homeless. I will never understand why we destroy cites? USA did the same they did in Iraq to the South in the Civil War. Killed and destroy everything in the Armies path. War hadn't changed. Just different names. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Thanks Coyote, always appreciate your comments, you have been there seen the folly of men in power!
I think that you have depicted the very harshly experienced trauma of war upon those who do not make the decisions or instigate the conflict, the extent of the abuse and agony is easily felt in this powerful piece. A much appreciated, urgent, vital and important message is evident throughout your poem. You have really made one stop and think and demand peace and sanity for all !! Excellent words from you Moon.
